Welcome to the site for Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, a juried exhibition in Asheville’s Flood Gallery (check out the link below). We’ll be keeping you up to date on details such as submission guidelines, installing the show and other important factoids. You can also ask us questions through the blog or email us directly.

But for now, here’s the basic information. Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing is a thematic exhibition that interprets the ideas of deception, masking and not being what you appear to be. Artists Katie Johnson and Kyle Sherard, also a writer for the Mountain Xpress, have organized this show as a way to exhibit a wide variety of approaches to art making that are held together by the thread of a consistent idea. There are no limitations on what can be submitted; video, audio, books, clothing, painting, drawing- all are encouraged to participate.

Submissions for this show are digital. Send 1-3 high resolution jpegs (300 dpi) for each piece submitted to our email address (SheepSweater@gmail.com). Also attach a Word document to your email containing your contact information (name, address, email and phone) as well as the title of your work, medium, dimensions and price. If needed, feel free to send a short explanation as to how you feel this work pertains to the show’s theme. Note: if you are submitting an audio or video work that is too large to send via email, please send it on a disc to the address below.

There is a $10.00 submission fee per piece, which will contribute to cash awards. Checks are made payable to “Sheep Sweater” and can be sent to:

“Sheep Sweater” c/o Phil Mechanic Studios

109 Roberts St. Asheville, NC 28801

Submission deadline is Wednesday, January 25, 2012.

The show will open Saturday, February 4, 2012.
